Motor

When choosing a motor saw, it is always advisable to pick a powerful motor that can cut through various materials.

Kobalt KT10152 has a 15-amp motor that completes woodworking projects fast and efficiently. It generates 5,000 RPM to make clean and effortless cuts through both softwood and hardwood.

Blade & Rip Capacity

A saw blade is one of the most critical features of a table saw. You can tell a quality blade based on its arbor size, speed, material, and number of teeth.

Kobalt KT10152 has a 10-inch blade that is a standard size. It is neither too big nor too small. The 10-inch diameter has a cut capacity of 3-1/2-inches at 90-degrees and 2-1/2-inches at 45-degrees.

The blade has a 3-1/2-inch height that cuts 2 x 4s and 4 x 4s and cement boards easily. It also features carbide-tipped teeth that cut smoothly through the wood.

The saw has a 30-inch rip capacity to the right and 17-inch to the left. The 17-inch is a helpful change from the 14-inch left rip capacity from the Kobalt KT1015.

Fence System

A rip fence helps provide a cutting guide. Without it, it is almost impossible to make rip cuts. A good rip fence should be efficient at holding down the woodwork project so it doesn’t shift.

This model comes with a sliding tab fence. Not only is it easy to set, but it provides accurate results. The quick-adjust fence is equipped with two clamping levers to make precise adjustments.

But there have been complaints about the fence system. Operators have to manually ensure that the guide fence is parallel to the blade.

When an error occurs, the saw does not deliver straight cuts. This can be annoying and tiring, particularly when making several cuts.

Miter Gauge

It would be best to have a miter gauge to hold and guide the wood at a specific angle to get a precise cut.

This Kobalt model has a locking miter gauge that allows users to make crosscuts, rip cuts, miter cuts, and bevel cuts.

Inclusions

  • Blade guard
  • Anti-kickback pawls
  • Push stick
  • Closed-end wrench
  • Side table extension
  • Rip fence
  • Miter gauge
  • Riving knife
  • Blade
  • Throat plate
  • Stand

What Impressive Qualities Does the Kobalt KT10152 Include?

Storage

Are you tired of misplacing your accessories? Worry not. Kobalt KT10152 comes with onboard storage.

It has ample room to secure the rip fence, push stick, miter gauge, power cord, blade guard assembly, and extra blade.

This saves you time and storage space.

Dust Collection

Woodworkers explain that there is a sense of satisfaction when looking at their table saw cutting results. But they do not report experiencing a thrilling feeling when cleaning up dust and debris.

It’s a nice thing that Kobalt KT10152 has a 2.5-inch dust collection port. It connects easily to a vacuum since this is the standard size.

Now you get to enjoy your long day of labor without worrying about clean-up.

Portability

This table saw is perfect for workshop tasks and job site projects.

Its 65 lbs. weight is easily portable. How? It comes with an 8-wheel fold-and-roll stand that is easy to assemble, disassemble, transport, store, and load into a vehicle.

All you need to do is press the foot lever then raise the handles. The table saw will tilt vertically for easy storage and transportation. It is pretty convenient.

One thing though, the table saw stand might feel wobbly if you assemble it wrongly. Therefore, ensure it is well-calibrated when installing it.

Safety

Safety should never be compromised when getting a table saw. You wouldn’t want to be part of the daily statistics of operators injured on the job.

Kobalt KT10152 comes with a blade guard. It encloses the blade to protect a user’s fingers and hands from the rotating blade.

Some woodworkers love working without the blade guard. I, however, would advise against that as it’s better safe than sorry.

The table saw also has a riving knife that stops kickback. It sits behind the blade to push the two cut pieces apart.

This stops the wood from pinching the blade, which turns into a kickback. A kickback occurs within a second, has no warning, and causes serious injuries.

There is a push stick, too, that allows excellent hand control while protecting it.

Alternative Table Saws

It is natural to want to check out other table saw alternatives. I’ve got you covered on that too.

DeWalt DWE7480 and DeWalt DWE7491RS are a good place to start. These DeWalt models use a 15-amp powerful motor. However, their no-load speed is 3850 RPM, which is lower than Kobalt KT10152.

Alternatively, you can try Bosch GTS1031, Skil 3410-02, and Craftsman Evolv 28461 table saw. The Bosch model is more portable since it only weighs 52 lbs. It has a SquareLock rip fence and a smart guard system.

Skil 3410-02 has a precise miter gauge, a powerful motor, and retails at a friendly price. Craftsman Evolve 28461, on the other hand, is easy to use, compact, accurate, and safe.

My Recommendation

Kobalt KT10152 is lightweight and easily portable with its quick-folding rolling stand. It packs a powerful motor that has fast speeds to cut through various wood materials.

And for its budget, it is ideal for beginners and DIYers.

If you wonder why the table saw is not ideal for professional woodworkers, it does overheat when used for extensive periods.

Additionally, the guide fence can be a nuisance if a professional has to keep adjusting it manually.

Other than that, the Kobalt KT10152 table saw is an overall great product. It will deliver smooth and clean cuts.
