I recently decided that I wanted to repaint my dull and dreary-looking ceiling. I was renovating my kitchen and bathrooms and realized the one thing my home was missing was rooms with attractive ceilings. Painting ceilings can be strenuous and time-consuming, so I wanted to find out what the best paint sprayers for ceilings were.
I had no intention of using the standard brush or roller to paint my ceilings. It was time-consuming and challenging to paint ceilings the conventional way, and I wanted to get the job done quickly, efficiently and without too much dripping. I researched some options and decided on paint sprayers. I will share what I found on the best paint sprayers for ceilings.
The 7 Best Paint Sprayers

The Different Types Of Paint Sprayers
Before we can dive into the best paint sprayers, we need to look at the different types of paint sprayers you get and when is the best time to use them.
Compressor-Powered Paint Sprayers
A hose attaches Compressor-powered paint sprayers to a compressor. It provides the steady stream of pressurized air that you need for the paint sprayer to work. The kind of paint sprayer you buy will depend on if you will only use it in a DIY fashion for home projects or if you want to use it in a workshop where you will use it daily.
There are two types of compressor powered paint sprayers:
LVLP Compressor Powered Paint Sprayer
The LVLP stands for low volume, low-pressure paint sprayer; this paint sprayer is used for smaller rooms and in a DIY function. Depending on who you ask, LVLP paint sprayers are the preferred paint sprayer used for painting your ceiling for many DIYers and professionals because it is safer to use.
It does take more time to get a ceiling painted when using a low-pressure, low volume paint sprayer, but you get a better result.
HVLP Compressor Powered Paint Sprayer
HVLP stands for high volume, low-pressure paint sprayer; professionals and DIY enthusiasts use it, but it is more expensive. They are made to spray various materials, and you can use one to spray ceilings.
Most professionals have an HVLP paint sprayer in their workshop, and it works fast and accurately but keep in mind it is a little bulky, so using it to spray your entire house might prove more cumbersome.
Airless Paint Sprayers
When it comes to airless paint sprayers, you need to consider the size of the area you want to paint. Airless paint sprayers work well when you don’t mind the overspray that is common when using an airless paint sprayer. There are two types of airless paint sprayers:
The Cordless Airless Paint Sprayer
The cordless airless paint sprayers are relatively new on the market, and they work on batteries. They are excellent to use when you have smaller areas to paint with limited access to power outlets. They are more costly than their corded counterparts and don’t have a lot of different options available as they are relatively new.
Because they are battery-operated, you need to carefully plan how long you want to spend painting your ceilings, or you might run out of battery power before you are finished. You can only continue once the battery is recharged.
The Corded Airless Paint Sprayer
Corded airless paint sprayers are the usual go-to for paint sprayers if you have a bigger surface to spray and you can’t wait for batteries to charge before continuing the task. That means you will be a bit more limited when it comes to rooms without power outlets, or you might need an extension to make sure you can reach all the nooks and crannies you need to paint.
These paint sprayers are less messy as some of them have professional quality features, and they require less paint to cover an area. What makes them the better overall paint sprayer is that they are less expensive than most other paint sprayers.
Conclusion
When I wanted to redo my ceilings, I was not too fond of the idea of having to use paintbrushes and paint rollers because they leave marks and streaks, so I wanted to use a paint sprayer. These paint sprayers are great for painting ceilings, fences, walls, and decks.
Be sure to buy the right kind of paint sprayer to suit your needs and budget, and remember to clean them after each use, or the nozzles will clog up. Some of the paint sprayers have a learning curve, but you will get the hang of using them in no time with patience.
