These are three of what can be millions of questions asked when deciding the best jigsaws available, however I’ve done all the guesswork for you, and compiled a list of five of the best jigsaws.
If you don’t have much time on your hands, I’ve made a list of the jigsaws reviewed in this article. Have a look below:
- DEWALT DCS331B Cordless Jigsaw
- Bosch JS470E Corded Jigsaw
- Black & Decker BDEJS600C Corded Jigsaw
- PORTER-CABLE PCE345 Corded Jigsaw
- TACKLIFE PJS02A Corded Jigsaw
I’ve done my best to put a list that should make it easier to decide what you should purchase, covering all the information you could possibly need, including specifications and features.
Let me know what you think of these and If I’ve missed anything in the comment section at the end of this article.
To start our review into our pick of the jigsaws amongst the class, we have DeWalt’s DCS331B jigsaw.
This model is part of the DCS3, 20V line, and the good news is that you’re able to share batteries with other DeWalt products you may own, saving you money. This is a welcome aspect, as this model is a tool only version – so you’ll have to purchase batteries and a charger separately.
The DCS331B is one of the smaller jigsaws available on the market, yet don’t let its design fool you. It’s built with the durability that DeWalt are known for, and is quite powerful with a majority of materials, especially with the inclusion of the adjustable shoe, which includes a cover that can be removed if necessary.
What else does the model contain? I’ve listed some of the specs and features below.
- Included within the 20V max platform sharing system
- Stroke length of 1” with SPM range of 0-3,000
- Four position orbital action
- Keyless blade clamp that also accepts T-shanks blades
- Anti-slip comfort grip and adjustable dust blower built into the jigsaw
- 1 x DEWALT DCS331B Jigsaw
- 2 x blades
My Favorite Feature: Keyless Shoe Bevel With Detents
- Make bevel cuts with four detents for added versatility and control over your project
Personally, I’m a big fan of this feature, as it’s something that both a useful addition, and also quite unique to see in a majority of jigsaws.
If you’re looking to make bevel cuts with the DCS331B upon your materials, you’ll be assisted with four detents for convenience. These detents sit at 0°, 15°, 30° and 45° respectively, so you can make cuts at these angles without worrying about precision – as it’ll have it covered for you.
The DCS331B is completely keyless, also. This makes bevel adjustments even easier, so you’re able to appreciate both the setup and convenience – something that can be difficult to find with many tools.
Bosch has released a series of jigsaws that are differentiated by the amount of power they punch – and the JS470E sits as one of the highest of the three, with 7 amps of power within this corded model.
More power can often mean added vibration, which is a downside to many power tools. Yet this is an aspect you can forget about, as Bosch have added a design that includes an internal, precision-machined plunging system – so it heavily reduces vibration when you’re working on projects.
If you’re left-handed, you’ll be very happy to learn that the JS470E includes an ambidextrous, lock on button – perfect for choosing that constant speed you want without having to awkwardly adjust the jigsaw around.
Let’s have a closer look into all of the features and specifications you’ll need to know of, on the JS470E.
- 7 Amps, 120v model with 10 ft of cord
- 3,100 SPM with an inclusive variable speed dial
- Removes dust instantly when working thanks to an inclusive dist blower lever
- 4 in 1 jigsaw, for making smooth to aggressive cuts, relative to the application you’re working on
- Footplate allows you to make cuts that are more stable, aiding in extreme accuracy
- 1 x Bosch JS470E Jigsaw
- 1 x Blade
- 1 x Anti-Splinter insert
- 1 x Plastic overshoe
- 1 x Bevel wrench
- 1 x Carrying case
My Favorite Feature: Variable Speed Trigger
- Accelerator trigger control provides optimal control over speed with a slight or hard squeeze
The JS470E is a powerful corded jigsaw with a no-load motor that can reach a total speed of 3,100 SPM.
However, you’re going to need a different speed for each material, especially if you’re moving between applications such as drywall and wood.
To adjust the speeds accordingly, you’re able to use the variable speed dial, located on the back of the jigsaw, and the touch-sensitive variable speed trigger.
The trigger will allow the blade to move faster or slower – and this depends on how lightly or hard you squeeze the trigger.
Paired with the variable speed dial, and the lock-on button, Bosch provides an element of control that is extremely difficult to find in models of this value, without compromising on other aspects of the saw.
The ability to operate the speed at your level can make a big difference in the end result of your work. What’s your views on this feature of the jigsaw, are you a fan? Let me know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
The BDEJS600C is one of the most cost-effective jigsaws that’s found within our review today. Many people may assume that cheaper equals to a less than reliable model made of cheap parts, yet this isn’t the case here.
The BDEJS600C includes all the features that you’d be looking for in a jigsaw, as well as a unique feature in the curve control technology, which allows you to choose between 1 of 4 customized settings of the saws’ orbit when in use.
I’ve listed all of the features and specs you’ll need to know of within this model, so have a read and let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
- Corded model with 5 amps and a total speed of 3,000 SPM
- Stroke length of ¾”
- Keyless blade clamp with inclusive dust blower
- Includes a beveling ability that allows for bevel cuts made, up to 45°
- Adjustable shoe provides a stable cutting platform on all materials, increasing accuracy
- 1 x Black & Decker BDEJS600C Jigsaw
- 1 x Jigsaw blade
My Favorite Feature: Wire Guard
- Improved wire guard allows for a clearer line of sight when making cuts, within any setting
The jigsaw is renowned for its’ cuts that rely on precision, so it’s important that models reflect upon this with inclusive features, as you want the most accurate cuts possible, don’t you?
Black+Decker are aware of this, and have added a few features in their BDEJS600C model to assist with this, and the wire guard is one of the components that does so.
The wire guard allows you to have a clearer line of sight when making cuts, without affecting the functionality of the saw. This means that each cut you make, regardless of the material – it’ll be as accurate as possible.
Porter-Cable don’t have the widest selection of jigsaws as the other manufacturers do, yet the range they do have place an emphasis on an important mantra; quality over quantity.
The PCE345 is a versatile jigsaw that aims to provide optimal cutting results, driven by a range of useful features. One of the most noteworthy features is the 7 position speed dial, a component I’ve described in depth within this review.
To provide optimal results, Porter-Cable look to reduce the time you spend on the little, inconvenient time wasters such as changing blades. How do they achieve this? I’ve noted the features and specs below.
- 6 amp motor with a max speed of 3,200SPM
- 13/16” stroke length
- Choose between four orbital settings to cut a variety of materials
- Increased comfort with an overmold on both front and back handle, reducing fatigue during use
- Keyless blade changes via a clamp for incredibly quick adjustments
- 1 x PORTER-CABLE PCE345 Jigsaw
- 1 x Woodcutting blade
- 1 x Wrench
My Favorite Feature: 7 Position Speed Dial
- Adjust the speed of the jigsaw accordingly to your application, providing more versatility
Most jigsaws come with a variable speed trigger and/or dial function, that allows you to control the speed in relation to the material you’re cutting. With the PCE345, this is no different – however there are some slight alterations that make this model quite unique.
The variable speed dial and trigger are located in the same position, with the dial being integrated into the trigger. This means that you’re able to adjust the speed and also lock onto your favored speed based on the application.
When discussing the speed of this jigsaw, which can reach 3,200 SPM, the dial has seven positions of speed to choose from. This allows you to have almost all materials covered when cutting, as you can adjust the speed as you see fit. With the 6 amp motor, you’ll have a jigsaw that can tackle all the jobs you need it to do.
Lastly, we have the TACKLIFE PJS02A jigsaw. This model is an all-purpose jigsaw, that covers all the bases you’d possible look for in regards to features. Even better, is its cost effective price – on the better end of the pricing range.
This jigsaw covers four positions with its orbital settings, and allows for bevel cutting of up to 45°. Perhaps one of the best aspects of purchasing this jigsaw, isn’t the model itself – but the additions that Tackllife have bundled together.
I’ve added these inclusions below, so let me know if you’re as impressed with these inclusions as I am.
Next – we’ll be looking at some of the features and specs you can find on the PJS02A model.

My Favorite Feature: Built In LED & Laser Guide
- Illuminate your line of cut for increased visibility and precision with a built in LED and laser guide
You don’t need to be told, and I’ve stated numerous times within this article at how important accuracy is with your jigsaw – as this is why it’s used. Any additional aspects that can assist are always helpful – and this inclusion is one of the most advantageous of the lot.
Included is a dust blower, that’ll clear the dust off your workpiece when in use, aiding in visibility. As well as this, is a built in LED and laser guide. This is included to provide a clearer line of sight when cutting – whatever the speed or angle may be.
This is particularly useful in dark settings that contractors can find themselves in, as well as allowing for a precise cutting line thanks to the guide. This is a feature that is becoming more common in all power tools, and I’m a big fan of this – are you, also?
The Round Up
After reviewing these five models within the jigsaw class, you should have a better idea of what is best for you. All of these models are quite well priced, with some more budget-friendly than others, which helps if you’re watching your back pocket.
Personally, I can’t go past the DeWalt DCS331B as the favorite. Featuring an all metal design that’ll provide incredible durability through its lifetime, as well as four detents four bevel adjustments amongst a variety of other features – DeWalt cover all basis whilst providing a great value for money.
Yet, these are my thoughts, and I know they’ll definitely be different from yours! Let me know what you think in the comments below.
